BUSY household!

Yes, I know it has been awhile since I posted a blog. Things have been CRAZY around here with some "major projects" happening! I can tell age is catching up with me as it seems to take me longer to do things....but I am grateful that I am still able....just slower! :)
Actually, Eric has done most of the physical work and I am CHIEF CLEAN UP person for these projects. I am quite impressed with the ability Eric has to do these projects just by researching it on line. He is detailed and a perfectionist. We have stripped wallpaper in EVERY ROOM of this house now. Often there was not just one layer but three. The upstairs bathroom and upstairs hall way were the last to be done. Out of all the rooms we have done that bathroom was the worse. Cameron and I stripped it and painted it which was no east task but we DID IT! It looked so much better......BUT...there was UGLY, stained mauve carpet in there which distracted from what we had done.
This was the mauve carpet after we had taken it out of the bathroom. I was taking some pictures of it (which do not do justice to the stains color) Eric said "mom don't post that on face book or put it in your blog for people to see. It is so embarrassing!"... but I am doing it anyway since the picture looks much better than it actually did!
I found a pretty good diversion with the carpet as I would lay large rugs down so it helped to cover up, but last year when Amanda was visiting she saw under the throw rugs and quietly contacted family to see if they would like to get Lowe's gift cards for my birthday so I could get new flooring. Everyone did and I was SO EXCITED! I COULD GET MY NEW FLOORING!! I wanted the ceramic tile like my front hallway but when I went to get an estimate I did not come close to enough so I just saved my cards hoping for SOMEDAY!
THEN: there was a new project in the bathroom! Cameron decided to install a new exhaust fan when the old one died!
The first exhaust fan did not work out so Eric went and got something BIGGER and BETTER with a light (much needed) and a heater (added plus). The new exhaust fan led to having to rewire and new touch switches.

That was NO EASY task as he had to go through a closet and into the attic to do the wiring.... but he finally accomplished it! :)
the carpet was taken up and then the toilet. It had been leaking and the plywood right under it was starting to deteriorate. Another trip to Lowe's and he got this compound stuff to lay over it and we would end up with a smooth surface.
before

compound laid down to even out floor

It would have taken me forever to save enough $ to get the ceramic flooring so I just used my gift cards to do the new toilet, and vinyl flooring. I am happy with what I got and how it turned out. (and I had to wait no longer for the flooring)
When Eric had to patch around the medicine cabinet he needed to paint it so he found my paint sample and went to get a small can of it to touch things up.
This is what happened.....
The paint did NOT match so I went to Lowe's Saturday and after about an hour we got the RIGHT color.......
The finished project
and I am SO HAPPY with it
THANK YOU Eric, YOU are amZINNg!
:)
I got the upstairs cleaned up and the garage from the mess we had from the bathroom project. I was so happy to have this project done I did not mind all the clean up!
I think I was just finishing up with the bathroom when I came downstairs and Eric said, I have my new project and he had already started it before I was finished and winding things up with the bathroom..... So what is it????????

A ZEN (ZINN) Garden
I trust Eric since he did such a good job on the bathroom and he has WORKED HARD on the Zen garden. It is taking shape but still a big mess with all the rain we have experienced!

A Zinn (zen) garden is some place you go to meditate, feel peace and enjoy the beauties of this earth. Eric has researched it well, and planned it out to give this area all the needed things to accomplish what a Zinn (zen) garden should be!
That is enough sneak peak at the Zinn (zen) garden....
stay tuned for progress reports on this project.
REMEMBER:

EIGHT plus is ENOUGH TO FILL MY HEART WITH LOVE!
