Wednesday, August 20, 2008 Elder Eric Matthew Zinn left from Ft. Wayne, IN to go into the Missionary Training Center in Provo, UT. He will serve the Lord as a missionary for two years. We are so happy, excited and proud of Eric for making this commitment.
Thanks to Ben's sister, husband and brother-in-law he did not have to "go in alone" They picked him up at the airport, took him to lunch then to the MTC. We were very grateful for this...... We were able to have these pictures because of Lindsey.
It has been quite the week in preparation for this wonderful event.
The last of the family left Monday afternoon. James and Family stayed to make sure Eric got everything he needed checked off his list! They returned to Aurora and we had a little work cut out for us to figure out the packing!
Monday night was FHE for the YSA group. After their meeting they managed to throw a SUPRISE PARTY for Eric........and he was S U P R I S E D!........guess what kind of party they had for him???????????????????

In my eyes........Eric really is a "super man"!
After the party it was time to get down to serious business and get Eric's things packed! Doesn't sound like a difficult task but it certainly was!

The question is with this picture............"how do we get everything Eric has into TWO suitcases and not have them over the maximum weight"?

The answer is...........we stayed up all night.......we packed, repacked, weighed them on the scales and continued to whittle down with what he HAD to have....... and what would keep it under the proper weight!
Mission Accomplished!...... but it was now 3:00 AM Wednesday morning and we had to get up at 4:00 AM so there was no t

This is what was left out of the suit case that I have to mail to him when he gets to Florida!

we went to breakfast then to the airport.......
It was a day filled with LOTS of happiness that Eric was going on a mission and a LITTLE sadness to say good-bye for two years.
Eric was happy and ready to embark on the Lord's work!
Stay tuned to more Zinn adventures!
