and we had so much fun helping to commemorate his 110th birthday! Jerilyn and I were asked to go to a pre school and read to the class. We went to the morning group and then again in the afternoon. The sun was shinning and it was so much fun to get away from work to do this. Our store manager asked us to do this and it just so happened we went to his daughters pre school. It is a school for special needs children and it left a great impact upon me.
Such beautiful children all with some kind of struggle but when you entered the school you found children that were so happy and excited we came! They were 3 and 4 year olds. Seeing all of them in the class room was an experience I will not soon forget. I went first to read the book "I can read with my eyes closed" then Jerilyn read "Green Eggs and Ham" then we handed out bags from Target that had some snacks and fun things to do in them.
It was back to work then we returned in the afternoon and these children were not as quiet and older than the morning group. We both read the same books and had a little more action in the afternoon.
Me reading to the afternoon class
I am so grateful I had this opportunity. I had never been to a special needs school and it was an experience I am grateful to have had.
As you enter the school door this is on the wall:
"Enter here...a place of Courage and Understanding of Dedication;
but above all LOVE!"
That pretty well sums up the experience of yesterday as I went into that pre school.
EIGHT plus is ENOUGH to fill my HEART with
LOVE

Nice break for you. Jerilyn should have taken a couple pics of you, not just the one from the back of the room!
We had so much fun with Dr. Seuss day at my school! I'm glad you got to enjoy it as well!
