Eric and I drove to Galesburg, IL last Friday and spent the weekend with my mother and two sisters. It was a beautiful drive here as the colors were aglow all the way. Fall is a gentle reminder to me of Heavenly Father and how wonderful he is and his love for us!
Saturday we awoke to rain but I looked on my computer and it said that it would clear so we took a chance and drove to Nauvoo IL in the rain. As we approached the city the sun gave way and it was a most beautiful day!
These pictures were taken on the grounds of the Nauvoo Temple. It was a picture perfect day!
I served as the Nauvoo Stake RS president before we moved to Ft. Wayne and I would make many trips there for meetings and events. I felt a flood of memories from special times gone by.....The older children loved to go with me and enjoy the great things Nauvoo has to offer! I remember how each time I took the boys they were off to get the nail rings and the sugar cookies and the buggy ride. Nauvoo was our Stake and I had the privilege of serving within that stake. I remember walking the temple grounds with nothing there but some stones. When the temple was announced to be rebuilt it was a great joy!!

There is a special place in my heart for Nauvoo. History comes alive and memories of a time in my life that was important to my growth!
After the trip to Nauvoo we set out to find Weir Apple Orchard. I have "fun time memories" of driving to Weir's and getting apples and apple cider. They have a cider press and the boys would continually get a cup of it. The cups were cone shaped and I think they liked drinking out of the cone cups. Sometimes we went and picked the apples and they loved doing that. It took a little bit to find it. We detoured to Burlington IA and that was really OK because that held more memories! I just walked down "memory lane" the entire weekend!
Sunday was church and I was able to visit with "old friends"! Grandma and Aunt Kay enjoyed having Eric come to visit. Sunday afternoon brought the family gathering for a light dinner and enjoying one another's company.
We were looking at old pictures that Scott had put on CD's. We laughed and laughed at how we looked "__" years ago! :)
Eric & Grandma spent time together!
It was hard to leave on Monday. I wish it was not so far for me to drive and I would make it there more often. Mother loves to go and do and she loves to have people visit her!
My older sister Connie is in the mist of a personal battle with lung cancer and I would love to just be home to help and to support but I had to return home and to work!
This is my sister Connie, her daughter Shelby and Connie's granddaughters, Meridith and Katie.
She has many wonderful people surrounding her with the support and LOVE she needs as she starts her treatments. Our family continues to fast and pray for her that she can put this cancer into remission and have time to build the foundation of LOVE and support with each other!
Eight PLUS is enough to fill my heart with LOVE!
