My mother celebrated her 91st birthday yesterday (March 22)

Margaret Josephine Kruse Thurman

This blog is written to celebrate her birthday and more importantly her life.......

NO.....my mother does not blog nor will she probably even read this but I need to write it for ME and for her posterity.
As you all know, Kayla and Trevor were here last week. One day I was talking to Marnie and she took a trip down memory lane with experiences she had "going to Grandma's House"! Marnie said how much fun she always had and she remembers taking bike rides with Grandma, playing Boggle with Grandma (all the grandchildren remember this!) Grandma would take a word and they would write it on the paper then set the timer and see how many words they could create from the one they had on top. Marnie said......"I remember how Grandma was always so fast and had a long list when the timer went off"! She remembered coloring on the front porch with her, walking down town and going to Little King for a sandwich but most of all playing jacks." (I looked for jacks to teach Kayla but could not find any.......must be a lost art!)

My mother has always been an inner acting Grandmother to my children and my sisters. They loved going to Grandma's and eating her french toast and fried chicken. I have watched and watched her do both........I am close on the french toast but could never master her fried chicken!
Her life was not simple or easy but she taught her three daughters much. She was and is such a refined lady with qualities I admire. She is still so active in church, home and family!

This picture was taken at her 90th birthday last year and all of her children and grandchildren were present except for Elder Grant Zinn who was serving a mission during our celebration! and one other grandson, Tony Dennis.

Hopefully we can make a FAMILY trip to her home in Galesburg, IL this spring or summer to make some added memories!

Happy Birthday Mom! :)
